We Did It! Push for the Mind

staplehillyouth

On Friday, despite the threat of rain, 14 Skaters set off on their planned 11 mile route raising money for Move The Mind, Bristol.

The plan was to skate from The Boarding School to Emersons Green skatepark, have a session and some lunch and then skate on to Warmley Skatepark. After another session at Warmley, continue skating back to The Boarding School.

The challenge took about 6 hours to complete, split 50-50 between skating at each park and the push to each park.

They planned and undertook this challenge in memory of a young person that used to attend The Boarding School sessions, and sadley passed away last October. The group were keen to do something that marked and celebrated their life and love of skateboarding whilst also making a positive contribution to a charity that was close to the young person growing up.

Move the Mind use animal therapy to work with young people with additional needs and autism, and make a hugely positive impact on the young people and children they work with. At the time of writing this blog the group raised a whopping £1'576!!! The JustGiving page is still up and running until the 30th April if you'd like to donate: www.justgiving.com/campaign/pushforthemind

The day couldn't have gone any better! The threat of rain never materialised, and thanks to our loverly support people the group were well fed and watered. We even had doughnuts waiting for us at the finish (which were very well earned)!

All were feeling a bit sore and achy afterwards, but very happy and proud to have been part of something so positive.

Wiping mud and crud off boards at every pit stop!
