The big boarding school road trip seems like a distant but very happy memory now. So much has been going on, skate Jams and planning for our Halloween party, me feet haven't found the ground!
Friday 19th - We were pretty lucky with traffic and got a clear run over to the amazing Camp Hillcrest ~ home for the two nights! With tunes in the minibus set to deafening, the hype was real.
Once we arrived everyone got to exploring all the things on offer at CH. The animals and particularly the chickens were an instant hit for these city kids, not used to getting so up close and personal.
After dinner there was lots of skating in Hillcrests own private indoor crete, and for some of our skaters the chance to roll on bigger ramps than we have at Boarding School.
We (apparently just me) thought we'd all agreed to early first night, with two big days ahead. But alas we had to clear the skatepark at 3am 🤦😴
Saturday 20th - Up early after no sleep to Go Ape! Rob had actually booked the wrong place by mistake ~ you had one job! But no bother as the right place was just down the road!
Mad morning up in the trees meant we could watch and see what the weather was doing... and it was not doing what it was supposed to do. Wet and drizzly.
Emergency phone call to our good friends at SMRP (secret miniramp project Glos) and they open up for us specially. They are legends!
Back to camp for dinner, followed by more madness up in the rope nets, skatepark etc etc. Night two was much quieter... all kippered out.
Sunday 21st - Another early start, and much harder work to get everyone up and at em. We thank Hillcrest for an amazing time, and head towards Cardiff for a double dose of indoor skate goodness. After flying into foam pits at Rampworld we head to skate the vertical stuff at Spit & Sawdust. Charlie goes full send on his biggest drop in, and after a nasty slam had the minerals to get back up for another try?! Brave or bonkers? I'm not sure.
The vibe was entirely different on the drive back to Brizzle. No banging tunes turned up to 11, even a couple asleep. The only moment of quiet and calm all weekend. Perfect.
