Push for the Mind is a fundraising campaign started by some of our members in memory of a fellow skater that passed away last year. They wanted to raise money for a charity that this young person enjoyed growing up, and set themselves a challenge to honour his memory.
The Challenge:
To push their boards over 11 miles, starting from the Boarding School in Staple Hill, first stopping at Emersons Green Skatepark, then onto Warmley Skatepark, before pushing further onto Cadbury Heath Skatepark, and then finally skating all the way back to the Boarding School. The route will mainly be on the cycle track that follows the Bristol ring-road, which is some pretty rough tarmac on skateboard wheels, so this will be no easy feat.
On top of the 11 miles, they will also be trying to land some of their hardest tricks at each Skatepark they visit, and create a video to mark their efforts.
The Charity:
Move the Mind is a Bristol based animal therapy charity that works mainly with young people with autism and sensory needs. A favourite place of the young person they wish to remember when he was growing up. They thought it would be fitting way to remember him and create a positive impact for others.
When:
Obviously we need the weather on our side for this one so no definite date has been fixed, however Easter Holidays is the aim! watch the socials as we'll give as much warning as we can and there will be lots of live streaming on the day.
