Summer, aka Skate Jam Season has officially begun!
Updates on the Bradley Stoke Jam and Go Skate Day below:
It's rained everyday since Christmas, but finally it feels like Summer and we can start to make plans to skate outside! Skate Jams are a great way to get together as a community and celebrate this thing that we love, and who knows maybe inspire a passer-by to give it a go? Bigger events usually have some pro riders attend too and tear the park up.
Here's a good (but not exhaustive) list of Skate Jams and contests that are happening locally to Bristol over the next few months...
Go Skate Day - 21st June
Usually events and happenings all across Bristol. Here's the local events we know about, if there's any we've missed please let us know!:
Black Mass 3 - 29th June
A fun little get together at the bear pitt in Bristol centre from midday onwards
Gillingham - 13th July
This will be a well organised day of Comps for all different disciplines. A little far out from Bristol, but well worth the trip with stops along the way (Mere, Warminster, and Bath make excellent tripleA rated skatepark stops).
Midsomer Norton Jam - 13th July
Comps for all diciplines, banging tunes and all at an amazing skatepark! MSN has a giant flo bowl that generates loads of speed and long grinds. Theres also a long street section too
Flan Jam Cheddar skatepark - 27th July
With skate lessons from 11am and the Jam kicking off from midday the Flan Jam is held in memory of local rider Henry Flanagan. Cheddar skatepark is a beautiful location next to the reservoir.
Bells Field Jam 31st July - over the bridge in Forest of Dean
Another Maverick run jam. This one will be rammed packed with great prizes, tunes and some amazing tricks going down.
Carve fore love - various dates
Crews from the Carve Wicked, Forecast, and Love N Skate brands will be touring skatespots together. More demo than jam these are not to be missed!
Spit & Sawdust Cardiff - 25th August
UK Independant Vert Series, Want to see the best UK vert skaters flying head high out of a 12 foot ramp? It's worth the trip just for the food S&S produce in their kitchen.
Dean Lane Funday - 31st August
All out mayhem, there's nothing meaner than the Deaner. Expect live punk music all day, expect huge hammers landed by Pros all day, and some tech wizardry up on the slab.
Thornbury Skatefest - 31st August
A bit more of a family friendly event compared to DLH! They'll be skate comps, skate lessons, and a whole heap of other activities too!
We're providing free transport to this event, if you want a seat on the minibus head to: www.theyoufoundation.org / consent-form
Warmley - 7th Sept
Hosted by ourselves and our friends CYN, we've got a massive £1k worth of prizes to hand out, Comps for all disciplines, they'll be a live DJ, and Graffiti workshops too!
Bradford on Avon - 7th Sept
Such a great and fun park that just opened recently.
Shepton Mallet - 14th Sept
Another one that's a little far out but well worth it if combined with visits to the amazing parks at Midsomer Norton, Peasedown and Pilton.
Bradley Stoke Skatepark Jam 2024 update:
An event that's been running for over 10 years! the Bradley Stoke Jam never disappoints and last Sunday 9th June was no exception. With pro demos from the UK's top Scooter, BMX, and skateboarders, and exceptionally well organised competition for all disciplines, thumping tunes, graffiti art workshops, and King Ramps perfect midi all on offer, the day was jam packed!
The skateboard comp has always been a little thin on the ground however, so we made the choice to close Boarding School and fully represent the skate scene. Who knows, maybe we helped inspire some in the crowd to pick up a board and give it a go?
I was really impressed so many of our young people wanted to enter the skate comp (it was a big intimidating crowd) and they all did amazing, coming away some great prizes!
Dan was entered into the Under12s comp and came 2nd place!
And in the over12s 1st place went to Sylvain, 2nd to Oskar and 3rd to Mylo!
See you at the next one!
